YAH or YAHU is the shortened form of Yah Veh or Yahu’ah (YHVH – the consonants of God’s holy name).  This Holy name has the same meaning as YHVH.  The name occurs about 50 times in the Tanakh.  In Psalms 68:4 5 this name is particularly stressed. “JAH” is the word for “YAH” as rendered in the King James version (the King James version was written primarily by German speakers – so the “J” should be pronounced like the German “J” = “Y”!).  YAH is also found in the compound word “halleluYAH”, which means “you [pl,] praise YAH.”  The first occurrence of the Name YAH occurs in Exodus 15:2, where Moses and Israel sing a song regarding their deliverance from Pharaoh’s horsemen.

As usual, many (if not most) people don’t want to be confused by the facts; they prefer the comfort of tradition no matter how flawed and damaging that tradition might be.  The author has chosen to replace the name Yah Veh (YHVH) with Yahuah (Ya-HOO-ah) mostly because we know the pronunciation of Judah (YHVDH) yood - hey - vav - dalet - hey is “Ya-HOO-dah” (Yahu’dah). If we take the “dalet” out of YHVDH then the spelling is “YHVH” and the pronunciation is “Yahuah” (Ya-HOO-ah).

Many Biblical proper names have YAH’S Name within them.  He called His servants by His Name, with His Name YAH written in the holy Servants name.  Their names also describe their holy anointing, and callings.  YHVH’S messages come from those whom he anoints:

1.  Eliyahu (Elijah) name means “Yah(u) is my God” (1 Kings 117:1).

2.  Yeshayah also Yeshayahu (Isaiah) name means “Salvation of YHVH”.

3.  Yirmyah or Yirmyahu (Jeremiah) name means “Whom YHVH has appointed.”

4.  Yah Shua (Jesus) name means “Yah saves”.
